This game is absolute fab, despite sometimes it dying - or freezing on a blank screen.
But then my playstation 3 came up with an update, which solved it all!!!!
By the time i got to the dragon room i simply had to jump up onto the dragons head and it would flip me back up.
I love this game so much that i am constantly checking news for a 'lego harry potter years 5-7' that i so hope will come out, and be even better

My son could not wait for this game to come out - was very dissapointed that the release date kept being pushed back though. Anyhow, when the game eventually came out it was another lego hit. My son does not feel that any lego game has been as good as the first Star Wars games, but he thoroughly enjoyed working his way through this. The first four Harry Potter films have been set out in lego world but sometimes the game seemed abit slow following the lego ghost around at first - but once you get into it, you can speed on. My son can't wait for further films to be turned into lego. Although he did seem to complete this game rather quick - he is either getting better at these games or there was not quite as much on it as on the others!!!

Overall, this game is simply fantastic. The attention to detail is exquisite. Different characters have different skills with the broom (for example, Hermione is, well awful!), the fantastic soundtrack is there from the movies, the main events are all parodied in cutscenes, and the gameplay is far better than the other lego games. It has a much bigger focus on puzzle solving then mindless fighting, which stays truer to the books. There's nothing quite like strolling around Hogwarts, casting various spells on objects, dangling students in midair, and the like, when you figure out what you need to do.
That isn't to say it isn't without it's flaws. It's caused my system to freeze up on several occasions (5 so far), and characters sometimes get stuck. It can really kill the atmosphere when it does happen. But i wouldn't call it game ruining. There are plenty of other reviewers here that rate the game 1 star, despite spending 20 hours plus with the games (so evidently they enjoyed it, before a glitch frustrated them). It's deifnately worth getting, and, as from what i've heard from various people, the other console versions suffer from similair issues, the PS3 version is the one to go for. The wii can't be patched, and the 360 is more difficult to patch, if you don't have wired internet, or an expensive wi-fi adapter.
So, to summarise, you should definately pick the game up at some point, but it's probably best waiting a few months, to see if someone casts reparo, to make this a truly great game.

My son aged 10 loves it, more lego fun, follows the others in the Lego PS3 set. Do stuff collect bricks get characters. Have more fun but my daughter aged 8 gets cross with it, but she will like it when she gets out the first room.

Hunt: Bug Fix for Getting Out of the Dragon Room
In case you are stuck in the Dragon room due to a glitch, resolve it with the following work-around:
Play as Hermione and select her cat on the spell wheel, then head over to the far left corner.
Jumping into this corner will kill your character, but while jumping into the corner, rapidly tap the "release pet" button.
It may take a few attempts but the pet will appear in the lesson room above. From here, the player can leave the lesson room and continue the game.
