• Bionic Commando Review [X360, PS3]

There are few elements and moments in Bionic Commando that actually work. The obvious potential is not realized due to poor design and execution in nearly every aspect.

Product Description
Arm yourself! The 20 year wait is over as Bionic Commando swings back into action! The first true sequel to the classic 1988 Nintendo Entertainment System original, Bionic Commando sees the return of the bionically-enhanced Nathan "R.A.D." Spencer. Time has not been kind to Spencer: five years after his heroic defeat of the Imperials, he has been betrayed by the government he swore to serve, imprisoned for crimes he didn't commit, and sentenced to death. On the very day of Spencer's execution, terrorists detonate a massive experimental weapon in Ascension City, unleashing an intense earthquake that has turned the city into rubble and wiped out its population. With the terrain in ruins and the city's air defense grid now in the control of a massive terrorist force whose goal remains unclear, the FSA have only one option left - a behind-the-lines assault. It's the perfect job for a Bionic Commando! - Use the bionic arm to swing between towering skyscrapers at breathtaking speed, hook onto distant objects, zip up on hanging girders and choose your own route through the game
- Gameplay that moves through horizontal and vertical environments - a 3D game that truly uses all three dimensions
- Full multiplayer mode with rich stat-tracking to check whether you're a true commando or a lowly private
- Use the power of the bionic arm - and of next-gen physics - to realistically throw massive objects, pummel opponents, whip enemies into the air, or pull the landscape apart
- Arm yourself with a variety of weapons worthy of a Bionic Commando
- Starring Mike Patton, the former lead singer of Faith No More, as the voice of Nathan Spencer

| Customer Reviews: A great underrated action game July 15, 2010 Paolo Savio If you like action games and you want to be in for a fun challenge don't miss Bionic Commando.
It's swing mechanic is deep and original. It's not easy to get the hang of it, but once you master it you'll be in for a unforgettable thrill ride.
The game starts really slow with some tutorial parts which are far away from the greatness of the things to come.
Just keep playing and you'll fall in love with the frantic swing-action scenes you'll be part of.
The game is almost free at this price.
Simply play it.
Arcade shooter May 3, 2010 Quarkey baby (Austin, TX USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
BC is a lot like Lost Planet in that both are pretty much next-gen arcade games, its probably better the LP actually and a lot more dynamic. Probably should've kept the old Spencer design from Rearmed. But I guess people feel different about playing a red head.
Avoid at all costs May 2, 2010 Active 8 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this game because I had played the original sideways scroller back in the day when I was a kid and hoped that with the power of the PS3 I would be in for a treat. with amazon's price this was cheap as chips. Worth a try I thought. I was hugely disappointed.
Graphically this game is great. There is a brilliant storyline that captures the imagination and brings the story from the previous game up to date and does so with enthusiasm. There are some nice tutorials that get you accustomed to using the bionic arm and the sound and cinematics are first class.
Technically however this game is poor. Way too many different button presses ensure that this title is perplexing and will lead to multiple deaths on even the most mundane of tasks. There is dodgy collision detection too. If you think that I am exaggerating think again. Imagine every time that you make a jump or a leap you end up worrying whether you will actually make it. Imagine that every time you encounter an enemy you find yourself fretting what button to push or if you are going to fall off a badly constructed platform in a badly constructed level. These are aspects that gamer; casual or experienced should not have to endure. And these are problems that players of the original title did not even have to think about. There are sooo many better titles out there that in my opinion this title compares badly in comparison.
In my opinion you should save yourself the money and time and avoid.
Burn by the critic March 28, 2010 Luis Perezagua Pérez (spain) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bionic commando is a game that has been damaged by the critic and the videogames press, besides it's a fun game.
In the beginning is hard to control the main character specially in some jumps but when you are used to is very very funny and ammazing.
some jumps are incredible.
Bionic commando it's a great action game but in my opinion the best of the game it's the soundtrack. It's one of the best i have ever heard and it's suits excellent with the action scenes.
The multiplayer is quite funny too and very dinamic, more than a normal shooter.
I'll hardly recommend this game
They saw me coming November 30, 2009 Mr. J. M. Taylor 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
This game is an extremly poor one and is lacking a lot. Capcom are a thing of the past and thats the way it needs to stay!
